“I thought there would just be a few of us using it, but it’s the whole office!”

Whether for home or office use, our customers are thrilled with their treadmill desks, but don’t just take our word for it...

It was a pleasure to purchase my treadmill from The Treadmill Desk Store. Your customer service is superb, your staff are very knowledgeable and could not have been more helpful. Your after sales care is particularly impressive – very few companies bother to contact their customers to check that they are happy with their purchase! I have no hesitation in recommending you to my friends and colleagues.

I calculated that if this machine means I avoid another two trapped nerves it will have paid for itself as well as saving me a lot of pain. Plus, I have one spine, which no amount of money will replace when it breaks down, and very, very limited time to exercise any other way. For me, this desk has so far been worth every penny

It took about an hour to adjust, and it doesn’t impede my concentration. This week I have written a story and a chunk of book, edited two MSS and knocked out five blog posts, all on foot.

Feeling the benefits both physically and psychologically – it gives you a totally different perspective for problem solving.

At PKF Cooper Parry we pride ourselves on being different and our offices certainly reflect this. For example, our East Midlands office features a treehouse meeting room complete with a fully functioning swing, a pool table, a space hopper and now our two treadmill desks. We originally trialled the treadmill desk back in 2015 following a request from one of our partners - who was suffering with back issues and struggling to sit at a desk. The trial was a huge success, everyone who tried it, loved it. The desk allows users to walk at a moderate speed whilst using the computer. At first, there were a few sceptics, some automatically saw a treadmill and assumed you could run on it, but soon we had to implement a booking system as everyone discovered the benefits of walking whilst working. Following the trial the first permanent treadmill desk was installed, followed quickly by a second. Over a year on and our treadmill desks are still as popular as ever, the desks are operated on a first come first served basis with bookings made via a shared calendar. The desks have proved a great addition to our office, and are used by a variety of different users all with varying needs – those with medical reasons and those just wanting to be more active.

I think the treadmill desk is great, I use it 3-4 times a day and firmly believe that it is making me more productive.”

I’m really enjoying walking and working, it took me a while to adjust but now that I have, I couldn’t work any other way.

I’ve had my treadmill desk for 3 weeks now, and I’m happy to report that my back pain has completely subsided.”

I just wanted to thank everyone at The Treadmill Desk Store for your help and expertise in purchasing my treadmill desk. It was installed by your friendly delivery team this morning, and I couldn’t be happier with it!

I have been using the treadmill desk for almost a month and I’m now a complete convert - I’ve actually dismantled my regular desk. I think the treadmill desk is great, I use it 3-4 times a day and firmly believe that it is making me more productive.”

In early January 2014, I had a life-changing experience - I started to walk - at the age of 49 years and 8 months. Like most people, I’ve spent the majority of my days sitting - at school, at work, at home, during commutes. I was stressed, unfit and overweight, from decades of sedentary inactivity.
Preparing to relocate from a corporate office environment to working from my home office again gave me the opportunity for a much needed change. Having been diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis in 2007, and not being self-disciplined enough to take regular breaks away from desk, I decided to investigate a healthier way to work. First, I found information about standing desks, but felt these wouldn’t be work long-term for my arthritic knees and ankles. Then, up popped a LifeSpan Treadmill Desk in my Google search results. I’d never heard of a treadmill desk but it sounded brilliant, so I ordered a LifeSpan TR1200-DT5. Being the impulsive person that I am, the day my treadmill desk was delivered, I immediately dismantled my “sitting desk” - it’s been in storage ever since - and don’t plan to ever use it again.
I soon started to walk 5-10 miles per day, Monday to Friday, so I upgraded to the TR5000-DT7 model that I currently use. I am much fitter and less stressed than I used to be. I can also think better walking at 1.7 mph (my sweet spot) than I can sitting, and I sleep much better. It took a while for my typing speed and accuracy to fully adjust, not very long, though. Now I can type and write (yes, handwriting!) as quickly as I could before. When using a headset for voice and video calls, the people I’m speaking to can’t hear that I’m walking while working.
How else has my treadmill desk changed my life? I walk much, much more outside the office. I park my car a few streets away, even though I have a car park space right outside my office building. I use stairs, not lifts. And, my wife and I walk 3-4 miles most evenings and during the day at weekends. I’m truly fitter, healthier and happier than I’ve ever been, despite being 52 years old! Also, although it’s not all down to treadmill desking, I currently have no arthritic symptoms.
