Workout at Work Day: Coming Soon!

Launched by the Chartered Institute of Physiotherapists, Workout at Workday has steadily grown over the years with more and more businesses getting involved.

The CSP launched W@WD in 2011 in order to increase levels of physical activity amongst employees during the working day, and to inspire staff to move more and address poor work habits, such as not taking regular breaks. The aim of the day is to improve public health, reduce sickness absence and promote the important role which physiotherapy plays in keeping people 'fit for work'.

On W@WD hundreds of physiotherapists and physiotherapy staff run events in different workplaces and public spaces across the UK, in order to promote the health benefits of physical activity in the workplace.

If you would like to get involved in this years Workout at Work Day which is scheduled for June (DateTBC) contact us about hiring one of our fantastic treadmill desks!

  • Belly fat is excess abdominal fat surrounding the organs in your stomach. There are three types of fat: triglycerides (the fat that circulates in your blood), subcutaneous fat (the layer directly below the skin’s surface) and visceral fat (dangerous belly fat). Visceral fat is located beneath the muscles in your stomach and poses many dangers to your health when there is too much of it.

  • Belly fat is easy to gain but hard to lose. Besides a fatty diet, there are many reasons that can cause you to pile on belly fat such as stress, lack of disease and in some cases lifestyle diseases like diabetes. Exercise alone is not enough to lose belly fat and maintain your weight. Your daily diet places a crucial role in fighting belly fat.

  • The real ketogenic diet requires you to get 80-90 percent of your calories from fat. You should also consume about one gram of protein per kilogram of bodyweight and limit carbs to 10-15 grams a day. That’s a huge shift from the average American diet, in which about half of all calories come from carbs. It’s still not clear exactly why the diet works to treat epilepsy, or why it seems to help with a variety of other neurological diseases, but it probably has something to do with the biochemical changes it produces inside the body. • Ketosis is a process that happens when your body doesn’t have enough carbohydrates to burn for energy. Instead, it burns fat and makes things called ketones, which it can use for fuel. Ketosis is a word you’ll probably see when you’re looking for information on diabetes or weight loss.

  • Anti-ageing is a treatment to delay or stop the ageing process. There are many treatments that can help combat ageing, using both surgical and non-surgical procedures. Damage from too much sun exposure can take its toll and be responsible for most of the visible ageing of the skin. As well as photo-ageing, repeatedly spending time in the sun with lack of sunscreen can lead to skin cancer alongside damage. There is no treatment that deals with all skin issues and that will have the same result on every individual.
